I just saw this thing with my daughter (1st grade) and agree with your take on it. The kid's
behavior is borderline psychotic, almost "Clockwork Orange" intense, not just 10-year-old angry and frustrated. The presentation of violence and destruction as something else, more like high-spirited playfulness or ultimately harmless wilding seemed deliberately perverse. There was a vision coming out of this that struck me as a little sick, and it wasn't redeemed by the ambiguous conclusion of the film. It's definitely not for kids the age of the main character or younger.

Dear Bacon,
I appreciate your opinion, but in the future it would be both more constructive and productive to elaborate more on your opinions

You aren't good at writing movie reviews. Or, for that matter, writing. Please kill yourself.
